Welcoming the new academic year

 Beginning of Semester 4 with Orientation classes

It was the beginning of the new academic year & semester 4 with Orientation classes for new academic year.

The Orientation begins with prayer and then , there was a short message by Dr. Joju sir our Principal in charge. And teachers gave a short talks on the new academic year and wished us a beautiful academic year. 

It was the day of farewell for our beloved Physical education teacher George sir. All the teachers as well as students gave them a hearty wishes from their bottom of the hearts. 

Then, the first session was by Dr.Asha on communicative English.

Later Dr. Reghu sir took a session on Time management, it poured so many lessons to our vision and life. He systematically presented and conveyed the Importance of Time management in life success. 

Afternoon session was handled by Joju sir, he collected feedback about the college and staffs. Then he gave a beautiful life message

"God doesn't want us to be successful but to be faithful "

Then , Bindhu ma'am gave a brief skeleton of the semester 4 and the activities to be completed. 

It was a beautiful start for Semester 4.....

 Satrangi-- Arts Fest 2k 23

   

 It was the week of Arts Fest. The sessions were filled with literary as well as stage items. I participated in Malayalam essay writing and short story writting competitions.

And students were rocked on the stage. Group events and single item were there. It was very enjoyable and memorable. 

There was tough and healthy competition among the 3 houses, and finally our house Sapphire took the Championship 🏆. 

The last day of Teaching Practice phase 1

It is time to say good bye to St Mary's...

It was the final day of teaching practice phase 1.

It was really emotional day for me..

We spend most of the day with our children, by collecting their feedbacks, enjoying with them. It was a busy day too.My classes 8M 8K and 9G  gave me small gifts and we took group photos.I distributed small gifts and sweets for students. My mind filled with their love. 

I also said goodbyes to my concerned teachers.

We, the team of 24 student teachers met and talked with school officials, principal Rev Fr Babu T and headmaster Bijo Geevarghese and took photographs with them...

It was the end of a beautiful chapter of my BEd life.......

As it was the last week of teaching practice, I had  mixed feelings..

I was very sad that I had to leave my students and school..

It was very crucial week of teaching practice...

Sociometry

I have conducted the sociometric test at class 8Q1 to understand the relaion between the pupils of the class. 10 questions were provided.

Diagnostic test

As per the analysis of achievement test, diagnostic test was conducted from the topic, pitch & loudness.

Conscientization programme

 

On 21 st February 2023, the Conscientization programme on the topic 'An awareness programme on junk food' was conducted. Along with me there were Megha Nair M V and Vivek Suresh Varghese from 11.30 to 12.30 at class 8 R1.

Remedial Teaching

 

As per the results of diagnostic test, I have done the remedial teaching at 8M by doing ability grouping.

It was the last week of Teaching Practice .With heavy hearts I have to say good byes to my students and the school....

An awareness on junk food

The concept of conscientization is the process of developing a critical awareness of ones social reality through reflection and action . conscientization or critical conscious is a popular education and social concept developed by Brazilian Pedagogue  Paulo Freire .

As part of our B.Ed Curriculum, We conducted a conscientization programme on " An awareness on junk food" at St Mary's HSS, Pattom on 21st January 2023 at 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. People nowadays find specific food items like bread, cake, pizza and cold drinks etc. This make harmful healthy issues and diseases. Especially, students are easily addicted to these junk foods. So we chosen this topic. 

PROGRAMME

            The young generation, particularly teenagers were easily attracted towards bakery foods, fast foods, ice creams etc. They felt that ready made foods are very tasty and yummy to eat. They believed that there is no harmful effects in these items. At the same time, they were far away from homely foods.

             We divided the topic into three parts. Firstly, Myself starts the presentation by saying the introductory part ie, about junk food. I explained it clearly to the students that junk foods contains high levels of sugar or fat and explained how these foods affect our body. Students carefully observe the slides and the changes that happens to our body during the digestion of these foods. Megha  continued the session by admitting the reasons why the junk food is bad. She specified that junk food is the reason for fatigue, indigestion and fluctuations in the blood level &about the types of healthy food that we have to intake. Different traditional foods are showed by using ICT. The students were enthusiastic. Vivek concluded that in our diet we have to include fruits, vegetables, milk, meat, fish, etc and also to avoid the intake of junk food.

It was 7 th Week @ St Mary's HSS.

As the teaching practices are coming to an end the 7 th & 8th weeks  were so crucial in the practice teaching...

On 14 th February 2023, I have conducted the achievement test on the chapter Sound in the class 8M.The question paper for the test is given below.....👉

I also took health education class at 9 Q1 on the topic BMI ( BODY MASS INDEX) on 14 th February 2023.

On 17 th February 2023, I also handled another physical education class on the topic mental health at the class 8 R1.

The topics I covered in this week were Seismic waves and Tsunami, Pollution due to plastic and Comparison of plastics Roleplay model...

I also performed the revision of the chapter  wave motion at 9G..

As it was 2nd last week of Teaching Practice, I have planned to finish all the pending works in the upcoming week...

It was the 6th week of Teaching Practice. Actually now I became part of St Mary's HSS..

This week I have dealt the topics ultrasonic waves and uses , plastic, SONAR, Thermoplastic and Thermosetting plastic .

As the chapter sound has finished , I have given revision for that chapter and announced the achievement test....

The another experiment under my supervision was recorded on 10th February 2023. The experiment was identification of hydrogen gas and it was performed by Asin.

There were also mid day meal distribution and discipline duty for me in this week...

As it was the fifth week of  Teaching practice, I was really became a part of the school...

The week began with 30th January 2023. It was the second observation day for me by Dr Neena Ma'am.

The topic I initiated there was the limits of audibility, which is an activity oriented and example oriented session...

It was also observation of yoga class, physical education for me by George Thomas sir..

The topics I covered in this week are water as universal solvent, Echo, Polymers, Acoustics of buildings,Noise pollution and Natural and man made fibres...

 

Along with these , there were mid day meal distribution, discipline duty and vegetable cutting duty for me. 

There were also many substitution classes for me to manage this week and it were up section. It was completely a new experience for me as to deal the small children...

As in 25 th January the demonstration video of all my students are not taken, on 2nd February 2022 the demonstration of the experiment dehydrating property of H2SO4 by Adik and Dheeraj was taken. 

I have prepared th daye reagents and experimental setup for the demonstration. I also motivated the students to perform well..

 

On 3rd February 2023 we also got exam invigilator duty for premodel exam for class 10 students....

This week also went well at the school....

It was the fourth week of teaching practice . As each week passes, the experiences at the school was getting enriched and are getting more attached to the students..

 On 23 rd January 2023 , it was my first observation class for me by Dr Neena Thomas. She has observed the class, 8M and the topic was propagation of sound. I have followed an activity oriented lesson plan..

In this week , on 25 th January 2023, I have dealt the topics, 'Multiple Reflection of Sound' and 'Electrolysis of water 'at 9G and 8K respectively..

There were also discipline duty and food distribution duty assigned for me...

For the demonstration of experiments, I have explained and demonstrated the experiments to the selected students..After that each of them are provided with the procedure and materials needed for the experiments..

On next day, they have done a trial session of the experiments..

As per the instructions of Lizy teacher, we have arranged the science lab.

On 25 th January 2023, we have arranged the materials needed for the experiments and prepared the students to demonstrate the experiments in the smart room...

On 26 th January 2023, there was republic day celebrations at school ground .The flag hosting was done by principal Rev Fr Babu T

   On 27 th January 2023 it was annual day along with farewell day for principal Rev Fr Babu T and the other teachers..

There were cultural programmes of students in the afternoon session and we got an opportunity to witness it.

Each week gives plenty of new experiences to us....

The third week of Teaching practice was more engaging, exciting.

In this week we actually got a chance to do something more productive for the school and students..

As part of increasing the scientific attitude among students, it was planned to conduct demonstration of experiments by students themselves...

We , the student teachers from physical science optional are advised to take the charge of it...

Under the guidance of Lisy T Xavier Ma'am we have prepared the list of experiments to be conducted and each student teacher has monitored 3 experiments each..The experiments which I selected are,

Identification of hydrogen gas

H2SO4 as a dehydrating agent

Reaction of sodium with cold water

For the demonstration of experiments, I have selected four students, Asin, Sadik, Dheeraj and Ayan .

I prepared enough charts for the demonstration of experiments with titile, materials required, procedure and chemical equations.

On 16 th ,17 th and 20 th there were no regular classes for 8 th and 9 th students due to the premodel examination for class 10 students.

On 18 th and 19 th I have covered longitudinal waves, dissolved gases,Speed of sound & Hearing.

On 19th January 2023, our principal Benedict sir visited our school for observation of the teaching practices...

As the week was really innovative for me. Because it gave me the opportunity to guide and monitor a new activity along with my teaching works.......

The second week of Teaching practice was more engaging, exciting and activities....

Day 1

9th January 2023

The second week begins with the Monday...The focus of the day was to take the 6 th hour from 2.15 pm to 2.55 pm at 8M. I discussed about natural frequency and factors affecting natural frequency there..The chart I used for checking there understanding is,

10th January 2023

Today as per time table ,even though I have no assigned class .I got to manage a free hour at 8k where I have covered the topic freezing point and anomalous expansion of water.

 

Day 3

11 th January 2023

Today I have covered the topic surface tension and demonstrated it in the classroom (8k).

At 9G I have followed the lesson plan of types of wave motion..

Day 4

12 th January 2023

Today the topics covered were the characteristics of transverse wave  and pitch & loudness at 9G and 8M respectively.

Day 5

13 th January 2023

Today the topics covered were reaction of water with metals and hardness and softness of water.

In addition to this I have done the discipline duty and mid day meal distribution duty too..

 

We have also participated in the process of question paper and note setting for the students of class 10.

                   This week helps me to more connect with the school premises and by this week we also became part of the school settings...

NEW PHASE..

 Teaching pratice phase 1 begins here.... 

Week 1 ( 05-01-2023 to 07-01-2023)

The new  of phase of our BEd curriculum begins here...

On 5 th January 2023, teaching practice phase began.  I was assigned with the St Mary's HSS Pattam for teaching practice. We were a group of 24 people. 

Day 1

5th January 2023

First day my first class was on 9G and topic was wave motion.  I gave a brief introduction to wave motion along with my self introduction. I also gave an opportunity for all of them to introduce themselves from 10:15 to 10:55. Second session was on 4th period for the class 8M . There I introduced  the topic 'sound'. Both session  were really a new experience and I was really greatful about feeling as a teacher...

Day 2

6th January 2023

Today along with the class on 8k , I am assigned with the duty of mid day meal distribution..

Each class has different kind of students. Each student was a new lesson for me.....

Day 3

7th  January 2023

Even though it was a Saturday it was a working day with timetable on Tuesday..

The week was the beginning of the big journey...

It was full of new exciting experiences..
